Director Jeannette Good welcoming guests at the double anniversary celebration of the Association of ABB Childcare Centres in Dättwil.

One year, two anniversaries

Decades of experience in childcare

The first ABB childcare centre opened 50 years ago, and 20 years have passed since the Association of ABB Childcare Centres was founded. The institution has definitely grown (up) during that period, so what better reason could there be to hold a small celebration?

ABB’s predecessor company BBC demonstrated considerable foresight, not only in the form of technological innovations but also by establishing the first company childcare centre in 1966. The centre was opened in mid-October in an old mansion on Römerstrasse in Baden. The opening of the centre was mainly a reaction to the increasing number of guest workers – primarily from Italy – who were facing new challenges in a country that was still unfamiliar to them.
